The purpose this study is to investigate the students’ proficiency in reading recount text taught using problem-based learning and taught using inquiry-based learning. The researcher found the phenomenon that most of students didn’t care with their ability in reading comprehension. Although they already learn English since Elementary School, they still have difficulties in mastering each skill of English skill, especially reading skill. The research used quasi-experimental (posttest only design nonequivalent groups). VIII A was chosen as experimental 1 class and VIII B was chosen as experimental 2 class.
