Coffee bean transcriptome

Coffee quality is influenced by genotype and the growth environment. Intensive work has been conducted using phenotypic and classical molecular techniques to identify genes that mediate the levels of key chemical components of the bean that are related to coffee quality. Limited early transcriptome studies were conducted in coffee (especially for the coffee bean or fruit), mainly to build reference transcriptomes, annotate the reference genomes, characterize transcript diversity and understand transcriptome composition and dynamics under genotypic or environmental changes. With the development of RNA-Seq technologies and the availability of transcriptome and genome references for Arabica and Robusta coffee, transcriptome analysis has become more comprehensive and reliable. Additionally, more gene expression and transcriptome analysis can be done to enhance the current understanding of coffee quality to seek more solutions to improve coffee quality
