Pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is often associated with growth retardation due to malnutrition. However, knowledge on total energy expenditure (TEE), active-induced energy expenditure (AEE) and physical activity remains limited in children with IBD. Assessment of TEE using the doubly labelled water (DLW) method, resting energy expenditure (REE) using indirect calorimetry, and physical activity level using the actigraph GT3X+ in children with IBD (in remission) and healthy controls.
