PROBLEMS FACED BY THE STUDENTS IN LEARNING SPEAKING AT SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 3 BATU

English has been introduced from the early level of education since it is considered an international language. Even, English in Indonesia has been the prioritized foreign language to be learned in secondary schools for several years. However, students especially in university level face some difficulties in learning English.Therefore, finding proper strategies will lead the learners to better learning outcomes. This research was aimed at revealing the Problems Faced by The Students in Learning Speaking at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Batu as well as their usage frequency, the causes of the problems faced by the students, and solutions for the existing problems. The researcherused qualitative descriptive research to conduct the study. The 10th grade consist of 19 students were taken through as the research subjects. The researcher used interview guide to collect the data .The results were used to to find out the Problems faced by The Students in Learning Speaking at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Batu. Moreover, an interview guide was conducted to 19 students o find out the problems faced by students, the causes and the solutions for the problems. It was revealed that 10th grade students ‘faced some problems in learning speaking such as low motivation, they difficult to remember, still used mother tongue, they felt bored in teaching learning process. The result of the data showed that they still afraid of making mistakes, feeling shy, not feel confident with their speaking ability. The solution for all those problems are increasing students vocabulary, good classroom atmosphere that can make students and teacher feel close to share anything, increase students motivation using appropriate teaching method and using games to makes them enjoy while teaching learning process
