Decision-making in innovation development: An organizational and an individual perspective

The successful development of innovations is highly important for companies, but also very challenging because many innovations do not meet their commercial objectives. Hence, it is the overarching objective of this dissertation to illuminate factors that enable companies to be more successful in innovation development. Taking an organizational perspective, Study 1 examines the organizational design of functional decision-making authority in innovation development. Study 2 adopts the perspective of an individual decision-maker and focuses on the investigation of project review decisions at decision gates in innovation development. Overall, this dissertation provides insights about success factors in innovation development and offers implications for research and practice
