High resolution satellite maps are useful for the identification of pollution hotspots. In this work, nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) observations from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) have been averaged and gridded for Shanghai and surrounding areas with a spatial resolution of 0.01x 0.01 degrees. The pollution maps have been used to investigate the spatio-temporal variations in NO2 and SO2 from 2008 to 2017. The averaged tropospheric NO2 and planetary boundary layer (PBL) SO2 columns in Shanghai are on average 1.40e16 molec/cm2 and 1.21e16 molec/cm2, respectively.
