This paper presents the findings of a small research study undertaken in the south east of England. The study was unique in the nature of its inquiry; adding to the very limited body of knowledge about the importance of community arts festivals in the creation of a transformative experience for participants and the generation of wellbeing. The research identified five key areas that result from festival participation, which have the potential to significantly impact on attendee and in turn, local community wellbeing. The research highlights the important role of the festival organizer as an 'enabler' and contributes a model examining the inter-relationship of the organizer with the community.
