UGA receives national diversity award for fifth consecutive year; law school enrolls diverse class Monday, September 24, 2018 The University of Georgia has received the 2018 INSIGHT Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award. The HEED Award is the only national recognition honoring colleges and universities that exhibit outstanding efforts and success in the area of diversity and inclusion, and 2018 marks the fifth consecutive year that UGA has been honored. One example of the School of Law\u27s commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment is demonstrated by the composition of the school\u27s newest students. The Juris Doctor Class of 2021 includes 21 first-generation college graduates and seven military veterans, while 20 percent self-identify as belonging to a minority group. This class hails from 24 states, and these students attended 83 undergraduate institutions. Fifty-two percent are male, and 48 percent are female. The law school also welcomed 16 LL.M. (Master of Laws) students, coming from 14 countries on five continents, and nine M.S.L. (Master in the Study of Law) students. Statistics as of 8/9/18
