Farm ponds are promoted in the integrated watershed programmes and under MGNREGS as a drought proofing strategy. More recently, farm ponds are integrated with micro-irrigation programmes under the National Horticulture Mission, particularly in states like Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
