El uso de redes sociales académicas por la academia

The objective of this paper is to investigate the practices and preferences of the Central University of Venezuela doctoral graduates in disseminating and extending the results of their research to society as a whole through their publications on academic social networks, on the basis that this diffusion varies in each discipline. The graduates who were taken are those registered and with their doctoral theses in theinstitutional repository of the Universidad Central de Venezuela: SaberUCV. The presence of this group of doctors is described in the academic social networks Academica.edu, ResearchGate and the search engine Google Scholar. There is a weak presence of this group of doctors in the academic networks Academia.edu and ResearchGate, and they have in greater visibility in Google Scholar, consequently, hey miss opportunities to publicize their research and exchange with peers or citizens interested in academic issues.El objetivo de este trabajo es indagar acerca de las prácticas y preferencias de los egresados de los doctorados de la Universidad Central de Venezuela en difundir y extender al conjunto de la sociedad el resultado de sus investigaciones a través de sus publicaciones en redes sociales académicas, partiendo de la base, que dicha difusión varía en cada disciplina. Los egresados que se tomaron, son aquellos registrados y con sus tesis doctorales en el repositorio institucional de la Universidad Central de Venezuela: SaberUCV. Se describe la presencia de este grupo de doctores en las redes sociales académicas Academica.edu, ResearchGate y en el buscador Google Scholar. Se concluye que hay una débil presencia de este grupo de doctores en las redes académicas Academia.edu y ResearchGate, y tienen en mayor visibilidad en Google Scholar, en consecuencia, pierden oportunidades de dar a conocer sus investigaciones y el intercambio conpares o con ciudadanos interesados en temas académicos
