Commemoration at church picnic grounds, May 17, 1942

The owner of this photo (and several others taken on the same day) clearly dated the back of each snapshot: May 17, 1942, but the purpose for the occasion is not fully known. In this image at least 2 members of the armed forces are visible. This MAY have been the day on which the congregation dedicated the new American flag which had been purchased for the brick sanctuary.
