The mythical representation of water, as the dividing-line between this world and the other-world, is widely known throughout the world. Nevertheless, the question remains as to whether or not this concept was familiar to the Slavs before they adopted Christianity, or whether they adopted it later from other peoples, as several researchers have suggested.
