The work aims to enhance understanding of the phenomenon of violence by other analytical dimensions and both will use the personal testimony of the author as someone who toil early with the problems of human society. The paper takes an approach historical and comparative examination of issues pertaining to violence in their relationships with the power and security. It also emphasizes the importance of the concept of violence by working the phenomenon. Finally, it presents some issues with the goal of providing in-depth reflections on the problem of violence experienced by the Brazilian population and human society in general.O trabalho busca ampliar a compreensão do fenômeno da violência por outras dimensões analíticas e para tanto fará uso do depoimentopessoal do autor como alguém que labuta desde cedo com os problemas da sociedade humana. O texto adota um aproche histórico e comparativono exame de questões concernentes à violência em suas relações com o poder e a segurança pública.
