Um 25 tegundir lúsflugna tilheyra ættkvíslinni Ornithomya. Þær eru sníkjudýr á fuglum og lifa flestar í Evrópu, Afríku og Asíu. Þrjár tegundir eru algeng sníkjudýr á spörfuglum og vaðfuglum í Norður- og Vestur-Evrópu: O. chloropus, O. fringillina og O. avicularia. Í þessari rannsókn er leitast við að svara eftirfarandi spurningu: Er O. chloropus eina algenga lúsflugan á íslenskum fuglum? En flugum var safnað af 13 fuglategundum. Alls voru 652 lúsflugur skoðaðar og voru þær allar greindar sem O. chloropus. Flugum var safnað á árunum 1999-2011.Around 25 species of Hippoboscidae belong to the genus Ornithomya.
