IMPROVING STUDENTS NARRATIVE WRITING THROUGH COMMUNICATIVE APPROACH AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The aim of the research is to know wether communicative approach in teaching narrative writing give significant impact on the students’ learning achievement. This is due to the fact that writing is the most difficult skill in learning English. The method of the research is a quantitative research by comparing the score between the learning achievement before and after the instruction using communicative approach. The writer proposed the hypothesis: the Students’ English narrative writing after being taught using communicative approach is better than the student’s English narrative writing before being taught using communicative approach.The result showed that t-observe was higher than t-table = 15,55 > 2,00. It means that, there was significant difference between the students’ skill of writing narrative English after being taught using Communicative approach than those who were thaught not using the approach. The average of score (mean) of the Student’s English narrative writing before being taught using communicative approach was 48,6, and the average score of the Student’s English narrative writing after being taught using communicative approach  was 76,2. It had the difference of 27,6 point.
