Optimal allocation of fire station to minimize the response time of the fire department

A quick response in emergency situations, such as fires and urgent medical needs, is critical to saving human lives. In the emerging and fast-growing city, Kingsville, Texas, the chances of having emergency calls at multiple locations at the same time were increased. Response to all these emergency calls should be less than or equals to the standards established by National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The standard time for fire emergency and basic life support is 240 second while it is 480 second for advanced life support. The average response time for the Kingsville fire station is 272 second for fire emergency and basic life support. The purpose of this research was to minimize the response time of the fire department of Kingsville, Texas. The study focuses on the new optimal location of the fire station in the Kingsville, Texas. To achieve this objective, NLP models were developed and exact location for various scenarios of the new fire station were proposed. The results of research show that with new locations of two fire stations population coverage was increased by 15-20% and with three fire stations it increased by 25-42%
