In this thesis our purpose has been to formulate, define and illustrate those rules Alexander Campbell compiled and applied in reaching conclusions and decisions on the meaning of Bible passages referring to the Church, rather than to give a full exposition of his conception of the pertinent doctrines. The examples, therefore, are taken from those sections of Campbell’s writings where we found the rules used or referred to, on such subjects as baptism, The Lord\u27s Supper, the covenants or any other subject that is included in the doctrine of the church
