The purpose of this article is to the importance of the search for mathematical patterns as a useful tool in solving exercises in the final series of elementary education, showing that these can act as a pillar for an effective and lasting education. A bibliographic study was carried out with different authors in order to bring clarity about the theme, seeking a theoretical foundation related to the importance of the same for a meaningful learning teaching. The study presents some activities (problems), which were solved through the analysis and use of patterns, thus showing its possible applications and its formidable service.
