The accompanying press release states "AWARDS FOR TEACHING ASSISTANTS -- Three of the four teaching assistants in the Chemistry Department at Texas Tech University who were chosen for teaching awards are congratulated by Dr. Arthur L. Draper, right, professor of chemistry. The recipients of the $100 awards are, from left, Lawrence Smith, S. K. Desai and A. Greg Padilla. The fourth, not shown, was Mary Cheng of Taiwan who is working on a master's degree in chemistry. Smith, a doctoral candidate, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Smith of Loop, Texas; Desai, a candidate for a master's degree, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. K. B. Desai of Nausari, Bulsar, Gujarat, India; and Padilla is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Padilla of Frederikstead, St. Croix, Virgin Islands. They were chosen for the awards by student evaluators."
