The title was used chiefly to stimulate interest and perhaps arouse some thought and start some arguments. If that is done the desired object has been attained. If not, nothing has been lost except the space in the magazine. The author recently was asked to make a preliminary study of some of the bituminous sands of Utah, especially those outcropping near Vernal in the northeast corner of the state.
