This paper describes a research conducted with one English teacher grade 7 from a public secondary school in the department of Valle del Cauca. The purpose of the study is to establish what impact has the use of the mother tongue (Spanish) used by the teacher of English over the development of the communicative intercultural skill in seven grade students. It was used a case study methodological design. The teacher was observed during 3 months, and she was also interviewed as some of her students. Also, there were used as data collection tools the video recordings of some teacher´s classes, the researcher daily field and the students´ interview. The findings showed that there was a positive impact with the use of the mother tongue (Spanish) ...
