Abstract: Using a method with different signal-to-noise ratios to search for a location of a fault location in branched power-transmission lines (PTLs) is considered in the work. A simulation model of a branched PTL is developed in the MATLAB software package. The relative error of fault location determination by changing the signal-to-noise ratio on the PTL and simulating different types of faults is studied in the simulation model. Three simulated pulses are used as the location signal: a single rectangular pulse, chirp signal, and Barker code with changing pulse width. It is revealed that choosing the location signal results in the maximum achievable accuracy of fault detection. Using the Barker code provides...
