Symptomatic Uncomplicated Diverticular Disease (SUDD) is the most common clinical form of Diverticular Disease (DD). The therapy should be aimed at reducing both the intensity and frequency of symptoms as well as preventing complications. The pharmacological treatments include fibers, not absorbable antibiotics (for example rifaximin), anti-inflammatory drugs (for example 5-amino-salycilic acid) and probiotics, alone or in combination with other drugs. Although some of these treatments seem to be effective in treating SUDD, but their efficacy in preventing complications of the disease is still uncertain.
