Kulturno specifični elementi u prevođenju dječje literature

The subject of this thesis is children’s literature and its translation, along with culturespecific items which are one of the most challenging elements when translating in general. Different aspects ofchildren’s literature and its translation are discussed in order to present an overview of the field. Moreover, Katan’s iceberg model is presented in order to show the interrelation between culture and language. On the basis of this model it is also proved how the translator should be familiarized not only with the language, but also with the culture of both, source and target text. Furthermore, this work discusses the main issues which translators can encounter when translating children’s literature and provides an overview of translation strategies which can be used in overcoming such problems, especially when dealing with culture-specific items. This thesis shows that cultural differences, language specialties and different aspects of children’s literature such as intended audience, should be takenintoconsiderationwhentranslatingforchildren.Predmet je ovog diplomskog rada dječja književnost i prevođenje iste, uz kulturno specifične elemente koji se općenito smatraju najzahtjevnijim elemenatima u prevođenju. Različitiaspekti dječjeknjiževnosti, teprevođenje iste, bilisu predmet diskusijekako bi se na taj način dobio pregled ovog književnog područja. Štoviše, Katanov “iceberg model” predstavljen je kako bi se pokazala povezanost kulture i jezika. Na temelju njegova modela takođerjedokazanodabiprevoditeljtrebao bitiupoznatnesamosjezikom,negoiskulturom izvornog i ciljnog teksta. Nadalje, ovaj rad bavi se glavnim problemima na koje prevoditelji mogu naići tijekom prevođenja dječje književnosti i donosi pregled strategija prevođenja koje se mogu upotrijebiti u rješavanju određenih prevodilačkih problema, posebno kada se radi o kulturno specifičnim elementima. Ovaj diplomski rad pokazuje da se kulturne razlike, jezične posebnosti i različiti aspekti dječje književnosti kao što je to ciljna publika, trebaju uzeti u obzirpriprevođenjudječjeknjiževnosti
