International audienceThe present context induces the central american states to take a renewed and updated interest in their common boundaries. The central american territory is illustrative of the dynamics of the last decades of the XXth century which have witnessed a change in the way boundaries are understood as integral to the processes of regional integration. The analysis developed in this article examines the way in which a politics promoting transnational relations has emerged which gets beyond the classical territorial perception of boundaries/borders as symbolic borders and lines of division in order on the contrary to re-evaluate the central American border regions as spaces of privileged interaction.
