Thesis (MA (Applied Linguistics))--PU for CHE, 1998.This study has multi-faceted objectives in the sense that it attempts to accomplish a synthesis between theoretical linguistics and pragmatic practice. The first objective of the study is to indicate the nature of the role that the professional copy editor plays in the linguistic communication process, and in particular in the editorial process as it takes place within the framework of the publication of Christian texts. This copy editing process includes linguistic aspects, as well as structural, graphic and aesthetic aspects.
