Despite the growing interest in the study of L2 translation as opposed to L1 translation (Pavlović & Jensen, 2009, p. 94), the literature on translation directionality (i.e., the issue of whether translation is done into the translator’s L1 or L2) remains rather scarce (Ferreira & Schwieter, 2017, p. 90). In translation studies, directionality has been investigated mainly from a process-oriented approach, with focus on the processual/cognitive aspects of L1 translation and L2 translation. Very little work, particularly in corpus-based translation studies, has been devoted to their product.
