International audienceThe Armoricain Massif receives a very important quantity of ores of gold, tin lead (associated with silver), iron, but very few of copper. The surveys indicate the presence of important mining sectors which even today bring obvious evidence in the landscape, excepted alluvial exploitations (gold or tin bearing river sands, like some trenches can be several hundred meters long. As regards to the iron, it would seem that the superficial ores are favoured leaving many traces. Radiocarbon dating indicates that all these metals were exploited, some prematurely, probably since the Bronze Age (gold, tin and lead), and some since the beginning of the Iron Age for the iron.
