Dünyada akciğer kanserinden sonra en sık rastlanan kanser türü meme kanseri olmasına rağmen; erken tanı meme kanserini tehlikeli olmaktan çıkarmaktadır. Kanserli hücreleri tespit etmek amacıyla birçok yöntem geliştirilmiştir. Mikrodalga frekanslarında kötü huylu kanser hücrelerinin elektriksel özellikleri normal hücrelere göre belirgin farklılıklar göstermektedir. Bu frekanslarda göğüs dokusunun, beyin ve kas gibi diğer dokulara göre daha geçirgen olması, mikrodalga frekansında elektromanyetik dalgaların kanserli hücrelerin görüntülenmesinde kullanılması fikrini desteklemektedir.
