Alternative cooling systems on broiler houses in Turkey conditions

5th International Symposium on Livestock Environment (ILES V) -- MAY 29-31, 1997 -- BLOOMINGTON, MNWOS: A1997BJ68H00051This research was made to establish an effective methods in order to solve high indoor air temperature in poultry houses and to examine applicability of the methods to the country conditions during May - September breeding period when the high indoor air temperature is a serious problem for the breeders. The research was carried out in a model poultry house which is divided into four equal sections. Three different cooling methods were used which are misting fan-pad and underground air circulation cooling systems and the fourth section was used as control breeding section. In conclusion, it is found that fan-pad and misting systems are more effective than underground air circulation cooling system. Significant amounts of production enhancement were provided with these two systems according to control breeding section. Underground air circulation cooling system was found insufficient for broiler breeding in Turkey conditions.Amer Soc Agr Engineers, Struct & Environm Div, Environm Anim Struct Com
