The association between serum potassium (K) levels and electrocardiographic (ECG) changes were evaluated in patients with chronic renal failure The mean age of the patients was 48.12 ± 15.42 years (Range 13-80) and 52 of them were male and 11 of them female 150 blood samples and ECG were evaluated. The results showed strong association between serum K levels and mean PR, QRS intervals and V3T and V4T, voltages (p7), QRS, V3T, V4T (p<0.01). The sensitivities and specifities of PR longevity and QRS widening in a patient with high K level were 100%, 31.3% and 90%, 32% respectively. It is concluded that ECG changes are useful as diagnostic method, but not very reliable
