The effect of the electrodes (Pt, Cu, Cu/PPy, Cu/PPy-Pd-Ru) on methanol electrooxidation.

TEZ8256Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- Çukurova Üniversitesi, Adana, 2010.Kaynakça (s. 65-67) var.xi, 69 s. : res. ; 29 cm.Bu çalışmada, doğrudan metanol yakıt pillerinde kullanılacak en verimli elektrot ve en uygun elektroliti belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Literatürde, iletken polimer kaplı metallerin çeşitli elektrokimyasal reaksiyonlar için katalitik yüzey hazırlamada kullanıldığı bilinmektedir. Bu amaçla çıplak bakır,bakır yüzeyinde polipirol (PPy) kaplama Cu/PPy, ve de polipirol kaplı metalin üzerine Pd-Ru çöktürülerek oluşturulmuş Cu/PPy-Pd-Ru elektrotlarının , asidik ve bazik koşullarda, metanol oksidasyonunda katalitik verimlilikleri araştırılmıştır. Polimerizasyon elektrokimyasal yöntemle, 0,1M pirol içeren 0,3M okzalik asit çözeltisinde atmosfere açık koşullarda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Pirol kaplı bakır elektrotların(Cu/PPy) ve pirol kaplı metalin üzerine Pd-Ru çöktürülmüş (Cu/PPy-Pd-Ru) elektrotların elektrokimyasal davranışları 1M metanol içeren 0,5M H2SO4 ve 1M NaOH çözetilerinde incelenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre; Cu/PPy-Pd-Ru'nin metanol oksidasyonu üzerine elektrokatalitik etki gösterdiği, en uygun elektrolit ortamının ise 1M NaOH olduğu belirlenmiştir.In this study, our aim is to determine the most efficient electrode and the most suitable electrolyte which can be used in direct- methanol fuel cells. In the literature, conducting polymer-coated metals have been used in preparing a variety of catalytic surface for electrochemical reactions. For this purpose, the catalytic efficiency of the bare copper electrodes (Cu), the copper electrodes covered with polypyrrole (Cu/PPy), and the Cu/PPy-Pd-Ru electrodes formed by precipitation of Pd-Ru on the polypyrrole-coated metal in acidic and basic conditions for methanol oxidation were investigated. Polymerization in 0,3M oxalic acid solution containing 0,1M pyrrole was carried out in conditions open to atmosphere by electrochemical method. The electrochemical behaviors of the copper electrodes covered with pyrrole(Cu/PPy) and the electrodes formed by precipitation of Pd-Ru on pyrrole- coated metal surface in 0,5M H2SO4 and 1M NaOH solutions containing 1M methanol were examined. In conclusion, Cu/PPy-Pd-Ru electrodes have an electro catalytic effect on methanol oxidations and the most suitable electrolyte environment is 1M NaOH solutions.Bu çalışma Ç.Ü.
