The taxonomic investigation of recent benthic foraminifera of holocene sediments in Erdek Bay (SW Marmara Sea).

TEZ5441Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- Çukurova Üniversitesi, Adana, 2005.Kaynakça (s. 73-81) var.viii, 96 s. : res. ; 29 cm.In this study, which has been prepared as a postgraduate thesis, the taxonomical investigation of the benthic foraminifera of Holocene sediments on the sea-bottom in Erdek Bay in the southwest of Marmara Sea has been carried out. 15 of the samples taken within this project have been studied in terms of benthic foraminiferal contents and sedimentologically. For the benthic foraminiferal contents, 5 g of dry sediment sample was taken and sieved in a 63 µm sieve in the laboratory and after benthic forms in every sample were picked out, all taxonomical identifications were made on these forams. In the study area, 46 genera belonging to a total of 24 families and 74 foraminiferal species were identified. Though agglutinated foraminifera were not dominant, 5 foraminiferal assemblage were identified from calcareous forms. These are respectively; Ammonia compacta Hofker, Cassidulina carinata Silvestri, Cribroelphidium poeyanum (d'Orbigny), Discorbinella bertheloti (d'Orbigny) and Elphidium crispum (Linne). Although the fauna exhibits moderate diversity and richness, it indicates a homogenous distribution. Finally, for statistic analysis has been used the main foraminiferal parameters and the species richness (d'), Shannon- Wiener diversity (H') and evenness (J') have been canculated. In addition, Q-mode classter analyses was applied using SPSS method and its distribution dendrogramwas prepared.Yüksek lisans tezi olarak hazırlanan bu çalışmada güneybatısı Marmara Denizi bulunan Erdek Körfezi deniz dibi güncel (Holosen) sedimanlarında bulunan bentik foraminiferlerin taksonomik incelenmesi yapılmıştır. Proje kapsamında alınan örneklerden on beş tanesi bentik foraminifer içeriği ve sedimantolojik olarak incelenmiştir. Bentik foraminifer içeriği için laboratuvarda 5 gram kuru sedimen numunesi alınarak 63 µm elekte elenmiş ve her örnekte bulunan bentik formlar alındıktan sonra bütün taksonomik tanımlamalar bunlar üzerinde yapılmıştır. İnceleme alanında toplam 24 familyaya ait 46 cins ve 74 foraminifer türü tanımlanmıştır. Tanımlanan foraminiferlerden aglutinant kavkılı olanlar dominant sayıya erişemezken, kalker kavkılılardan, 5 foraminifer topluluğu tespit edilmiştir. Bunlar sırasıyla, Ammonia compacta Hofker, Cassidulina carinata Silvestri, Cribroelphidium poeyanum (d'Orbigny), Discorbinella bertheloti (d'Orbigny), Elphidium crispum (Linne)'dir. Bölgede fauna orta derecede bir farklılık ve çeşitlilik sergilemesine karşın, homojen bir dağılım gösterememektedir. Son olarak istatistiksel analiz için ana foraminiferal parametreler kullanılarak, tür zenginliği (d'), Shannon- Wiener farklılığı (H') ve Evenness (J') değerleri hesaplanmıştır.
