Gender Equality and Sustainable Development Goals: The Role of the Library and Information Professionals in Nigeria

Attempts have been made in Nigeria to address the issue of women\u27s right, responsibility with a view to improving the socio-economic and political lots of Nigerian women as a whole. But global indices have steadily placed Nigeria within groups of low performers in terms of gender equality, with opportunities for improvement in a wide range of areas. To address the gender imbalances and respond to the challenges faced by women in the country, efforts must be made by all individuals and professions to address this inequality. The aim of this paper is to uncover the contributions and roles of libraries and information professionals in realizing gender equality towards attaining the sustainable development goals (SDGs). More so, it aims at making advocacy for inclusion of libraries as information centers in national development building for girls and women in the country
