The effect of wage on mobbing at work [Ücretin i·şyerindeki yıldırma olgusu üzerindeki etkisi]

Developing a harmonious working environment is very important for both employers and employees. In recent years the greater inclination towards practicing total quality management in most sectors has led to an increase in the interest in behaviours that break the harmony at the workplace. These behaviors vary from psychological harassment to physical violence. Labeled as "mobbing", "emotional harassment" or "psychological terror" in the literature, unfavorable behaviours, mostly practiced continuously by employers toward employees, appear as suppression and violence. It is seen in the literature that these behaviors are commonly observed in many countries. It will be useful to research the cause of these behaviors and their prevalence in different sectors. This study attempts to find out the extent of mobbing behaviors targeting the wages of employees, which naturally have a high significance in employees' lives. The study has been carried out on two service sectors: tourism and health. It has been found out that the mobbing effect of the wage factor is high among the employees of the health sector but lower among the employees of the tourism sector. © Ahmet Yesevi University Board of Trustees
