Objective: Calcium ion has an important role in the synthesis and release of chemical mediators during inflammation. The aim of this study was to examine the anti-infiammatory effects of L-type calcium channel blockers on acute and chronic inflammation models in rats and also to examine the effects of nicardipine on capillary vascular permeability in rabbits. Material and Methods: Effects on acute phase of inflammation of verapamil, diltiazem and nicardipine (10 mg/kg doses) were compared with diclofenac sodium (25 mg/kg) in histamine-induced paw edema model.
