In marine environment, the corrosion rate of metallic structures vary remarkably with the change in climatic conditions and seawater composition across geographical locations. The corrosion in brackish and polluted seawaters is even more complicated due to the presence of different chemical species and untreated effluents. The complex correlation between the above average temperature and salinity with the high nutrient content in polluted seawater tends to accelerate the rate of biological activities and microbiological induced corrosion (MIC).
