Potentiometric measurements on aqueous solutions of zinc chloride have been made in the concentration range 0.0004 - 1.0 mol. kg-1. The standard electrode potential of zinc electrode in zinc chloride and the activity coefficients for this salt have been calculated, taking into account incomplete dissociation. Comparison with literature data has been made and reasons for discrepancies are suggested. Existing potentiometric data on aqueous cadmium iodide has been used to obtain refined values of stability constants and concentrations of Cdlx 2-x (x=1,2,3,4) complexes by the relatively new method, reported by Reilly and Stokes in 1970.
