Background: High rates of smoking are documented among some American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities, with potential variability by region and urban/rural settings. Quitlines are a cost-effective strategy for providing evidence-based cessation treatment, but little is known about the effectiveness of quitline services for the AI/AN population. Objectives: This study compared demographic characteristics, tobacco use, and cessation and program utilization behaviors between AI/AN (n = 297) and Non-Hispanic White (NHW; n = 13,497) quitline callers.
