RESUMEN: La igualdad de género en educación tiene un papel importante para el desarrollo social de un país. El hecho de que en la actualidad exista una alta participación femenina en estudios universitarios no implica que se esté dando una equidad en este tipo de formación, puesto que se observan diferencias según el sexo a la hora de escoger carrera profesional. Los trabajos con mayores tasas de empleo y mayores salarios son los que pertenecen a las denominadas titulaciones STEM, acrónimo de los términos Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas).
