Background: Cancer has a major impact on society in the United States and across the world. A total of 1,762,450 new cancer cases and 606,880 deaths from cancer are expected to occur in the US in 2019 (American Cancer Society, 2019). However, studies suggest that people from minority cultures are underrepresented in cancer support groups (Kwok and Ho 2011). The current research also continues to show cancer outcomes differ among different racial/ethnic groups (ACS, 2018).
