RESUMEN: La implementación de las políticas colombianas sobre el bilingüismo inglés-español requiere de un número mayor de docentes de inglés como lengua extranjera que estén mejor preparados. Este artículo analiza de manera crítica la utilización de dos modelos internacionales de desarrollo profesional, que desempeñan el papel de certificaciones alternativas y adicionales para los profesionales de la enseñanza del inglés en el país.
