Teenage Pregnancy: Between a Failure of Information and a Psychic Achievement

ABSTRACT: This research looks into teen pregnancy from a psychoanalytic approach that is based on concepts developed by Freud and others who have worked with teenagers. Primary data were based on a series of interviews. These were subsequently analyzed and the categories that emerged from this analysis were articulated with psychoanalytic concepts regarding this transitional time that is adolescence. This was done so that we could answer the question as to what psychic elements come into play and in part, result in the failure of actions intended to reduce teenage pregnancy by providing information.RESUMEN: La presente investigación indaga por el embarazo adolescente desde un enfoque psicoanalítico, a partir de algunos conceptos desarrollados por Freud y otros autores que han trabajado la adolescencia. La infor­mación primaria se estableció con base a una serie de entrevistas que fueron posteriormente analizadas; de dicho análisis emergieron unas categorías que se articularon con algunas concepciones psicoanalíticas referidas a este tiempo transicional que es la adoles­cencia. Esto con el objetivo de responder a la pregunta por los elementos psíquicos que se ponen en juego y que conducen, en parte, al fracaso de las acciones que buscan una disminución del embarazo en la adolescencia a partir de la transmisión de información
