Bu nörotransmitter maddelerin bir bölümü eksitasyonu artırırken bir bölümü ise eksitasyonu azaltmaktadır. Nöropeptit Y (NPY) ve leptin eksitasyonu azaltan maddelerden bazılarıdır. Şimdiye kadar epilepsi hayvan modellerinde yapılan birçok çalışma NPY’nin ve leptinin nöbetleri baskılama rolünü güçlü bir şekilde desteklemektedir.
