The interactions between the Transport and the Land-Use Systems are complex and not widely analysed, causing uncertainties in decision-making processes. New governance tools are needed to support territorial transformations oriented to more sustainable use of soil resources, the transition towards more environmentally friendly transport modes and to greater accessibility equity to transport services. Moreover, these tools have to consider the interactions of external phenomena on the urban system, such as economic crisis and political issues.
