What would human life be without attention? What would learning, reflection, education and intellectual life in general be without developed habits of attention? The French philosopher Simone Weil addressed such questions in one of her best-known texts, which she wrote to help the Dominican Joseph Marie Perrin, who at the time was responsible for the young students of Catholic Action in the unoccupied part of France. Weil sent this text to aid her friend in his mission to assist these young people in their personal and academic lives.
