Supersymmetry is an extension of the Standard Model that provides an elegant solution to many of its shortcomings. Despite the absence of experimental evidence, supersymmetry continues to be a well motivated and studied part of the LHC program. Starting from arguments on the motivation of the search of supersymmetry, this talk presents recent ATLAS and CMS results on searches for the supersymmetric squarks and gluinos. The searches focus on R-parity conserving models that predict dark mater candidates and target final states with missing transverse momentum, jets as well as leptons and bosons
