One of the main goals of the CERN Long-Shutdown 2 (LS2) is to improve the performance of the injector complex, both regarding beam quality and availability, in the framework of the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project [1]. The project consists of major upgrades in all CERN machines, starting with the replacement of Linac2 by Linac4 as the first element in the injector chain. This will allow increasing the injection energy into the PSB from 50 to 160 MeV. Linac4 will accelerate H- ions, which will require a complete re-design of the PSB injector region, including the new charge-exchange stripping foil system.
