Today, due to the realization of problems such as climate change and limited resources, a lot of focus is being dedicated to find more sustainable and environmentally friendly ways of producing fuels. Cyanobacteria has the ability of meeting these challenges. However, production in cyanobacteria can still not compete with other fuels. Both due to the lack of genetic tools available and their inability of big scales production. During this thesis, we try to increase the amount of genetic tools available and increase hydrogen production in cyanobacteria by the expression of an exogenous gene.
