Agnes Sil is one of the founders of Kup Women for Peace in the Simbu Province of Papua New Guinea. At a very young age, her father was killed during tribal fighting in the Kup valley. Her mother was accused of causing his death and they had to relocate. Agnes wanted safety and security for her siblings and her mother so she married young. Her husband was supportive and provided support for her family, but eventually they divorced. Agnes found strength from other women, including those who were from the enemy tribe. They became known as the Tribal Sisters, or Kup Women for Peace and help women in need up to this day.
